1. Rats are very clean, even if they get some thing in thier fur u can bathe them which u can't for hamsters.(but dont do it regurally only when u need to)
2. they are not expensive, but i dont know if they cost more then hamsters
3. bins are fine for rats and also aquarium(like a 17-18 gallon no smaller)
4.my opinion of them is that they are great as pets and very intelligent, and cute! my friend always loved rats since she was 7 or so and now she's 14 and still has them!
